Chickens in Paradise

awake in the tropics
local rooster singing
plumeria and ginger
swaddle the cottage
a swag of bananas
decorates the doorway
geckos scurry at morning light
wild herd of chickens
dash through the garden
hundreds of  translucent bugs
stuck to the ceiling

another view of paradise.

yeah this reminds me of my years in FL...had a lime, orange and banana trees and a nasty rooster that only came around on saturday mornings...

Within its short yet atmospheric span, it creates an intense sense of place.

Oh, I yearn for Jamaica .... everything you described is there just waiting. Nicely done!
